She was born 12-20-1910 in Easton, the daughter of Joel and Eunice (Fuller) Valley. She attended school in Washburn and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest God given gifts were encouragement and hospitality. Wife of the late Leon Hersey died Wednesday 12-11-2002 at the Presque Isle Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born 12-20-1910 in Easton, the daughter of Joel and Eunice (Fuller) Valley. She attended school in Washburn and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest God given gifts were encouragement and hospitality. She enjoyed housing and feeding visiting preachers for the Reformed Baptist, now known as the Wesleyan, and the Bethany Baptist churches. She was known as a great cook. The summers were spent in her flower garden and growing vegetables to can and freeze for winter. She was skilled as a knitter, tatting and crocheting and loved to teach others the skills. Her time was spent with family and church. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Leon in 2000, 3 brothers, Chester, Edwin and Garold and by 2 grandaughters, Christen and Marie Hersey. She is survived by 3 sons, Chester and his wife Colleen and their sons, Bryan, Brent and Stuart and his wife Dayna and their sons, Zachary and Ryan, all of the Pullayup. WA. area. Lester and his wife, Deborah of Presque Isle and their children, Dan of Laurinburg, NC., Jennifer and her husband, David Eavenson of Fayetteville, NC., John and his wife, Eryn of Carmel, Merrill and his wife, Kathy of Presque Isle and his children, Matthew of Portland, Mitchell of Chicago, ILL., Marshall, Megan and Michael of Presque Isle. Edna is also survived by a supportive brother, Dwight of Hamburg, NJ. and 3 devoted sisters, Almeda Elliott of Springfield, MO., Dorothy Sperry of Washburn and Naida Parks of Caribou. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Leisure Village and the Presque Isle Nursing Home for their care and concern for Edna during the last 8 years. Burial Fairmount cemetery.
