Fifth St., North Manchester, died Wednesday evening at Timbercrest Retirement Home, North Manchester. Born Oct. 3, 1894 in Marshall County to William Henry and Delilah DUMBAULD TAYLOR, she lived in North Manchester for 42 years, moving there from Rochester. She married Furel R. BURNS Aug. 18, 1915. He died in 1958. In addition to serving as honorary vice president general of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1969, she was for 12 years a member of the state DAR board and also was the state DAR treasurer, state vice regent, state regent, and vice president of the national organization. She was active on North Manchester, Mentone and the Indiana State library boards for 45 years. She belonged to the National Boone Association, the North Manchester Historical Society, the Fulton County Historical Society, the Pulaski County Historical Society, the Indiana State Museum Association and was a charter member of the Congressional Club, Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Tri Kappa, the North Manchester Womens Club and the Past Matrons Club A retired school teacher, she was associated with Burns Bakeries, Mentone and North Manchester. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Corlyle Kay (Jean) PAULUS, Bloomington, Ill.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A sister preceded in death. Friends may call at the Bender Funeral Home, North Manchester, Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Carl LEMNA officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church organ fund or the Indiana DAR.
