Daughter of Remmer Harms and wife Ida Haan. ********************** Edna Janssen, 83, of Ackley, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. Edna was born on November 15, 1933 to Remmer and Ida (Haan) Harms. She attended Eleanor Country School, rural Aplington. On June 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald Janssen in the Reformed Church of Aplington. Edna and Donald farmed together until his death, in which she then continued the family farm until retirement in 1992. Edna also enjoyed quilting, painting and other crafts, but above all, she enjoyed every minute she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children Darwin (Marcia) Janssen of Cedar Falls, Deanne Janssen of Cedar Falls, Dalissa (Thor) Larson of Waverly and Darren (Beth) Janssen of Ackley; her grandchildren Laura (Steve) Mallicoat, Mark (Jessie) Janssen, Matt (Liberty) Janssen, Mandy Janssen, Dane (Meghan) Larson, Eric Larson, Krissa Larson, Evan Janssen, Brent Janssen and Jay Janssen; her great-grandchildren Megan Mallicoat, Boyd Mallicoat, Cale Mallicoat, Leo Janssen, Joy Sawyer, Madelyn Janssen and Isabelle Janssen; her brother Raymond (Doris) Harms and her sister Fannie Meyer and sister-in-law Ann Harms. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings and siblings-in-law: Henry (Alice) Harms, Jenny (John) Schipper, John (Kathryn) Harms, Edward Harms, and brothers-in-law Harm Johnson and Calvin Meyer.
