Description	:	Edna Katharine Charlotte Petz, daughter of Wihelm and Margarete H. (Eilers) Grummert, was born February 12, 1914, on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. She passed away Sunday, January 31, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 19 days. She was baptized March 15, 1914, and confirmed March 18, 1928, at Salem Lutheran Church. Edna's father died when she was very young during the flu epidemic. She passed away Sunday, January 31, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 19 days. Her grandfather Grummert and her father's sisters also died that year. When her grandmother Eilers died, her mother, Margarete, and the children moved in with her grandfather Eilers. Edna attended Beaver and Garfield County Schools and graduated from Nelson High School in 1932. She attended Peru State College in a two year program and graduated with a BS degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Nebraska in 1942. She taught for nine years in Nebraska public schools; Sandy Knob, rural school near Bostwick, 7th and 8th grades at Honey Creek rural consolidated school, and high school in Alma and Ashland. September 21, 1947, she married Earl Petz. To this union two daughters were born. In 1949 her church membership was transferred to the First United Presbyterian Church of Nelson. She served as a Sunday School teacher and on the Christian Education Committee for 30 years or more. She taught Vacation Bible School for a number of years, served ad (sic) Deacon, Elder and Clerk of Session. Edna was active in U.P.W. Women's Association and continued her activities as a member of Nelson Community United Church of Christ. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of Garfield and Fairview Neighbors Extension Clubs. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Alfred Grummert. Survivors include her husband, Earl of Nelson, Nebraska; two daughters, LeAnn Fritzler and her husband Gary of Plainview, Nebraska, and Elaine Fraley and her husband Keith of Chester, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Elissa, Brandon and Megan Fraley; one brother, Wilfred Grummert and his wife Eleanor of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 3, 1999, at 2 p.m., at the Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Pastor Michael Osberg officiating. Music was "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" with Ruth Watts as soloist. Congregational hymns were "Jesus, Jesus Only Jesus" and "Beautiful Saviour" with Betty McKevitt as organist and accompanist. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Mueller, Steve Rakosky, Ron Grummer, Gary Grummert, Lawrence Williams and Bob Eilers.
