Description	:	May Beecher, daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Cottle) Beecher was born on February 12, 1918 at Gilford, Montana, where she grew up and attended school. After her mother's death, the family moved to the Fullerton, North Dakota area, where May and her sister Hazel cared for the home, as her father and brothers farmed. Read More	May Beecher, daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Cottle) Beecher was born on February 12, 1918 at Gilford, Montana, where she grew up and attended school. After her mother's death, the family moved to the Fullerton, North Dakota area, where May and her sister Hazel cared for the home, as her father and brothers farmed. She was united in marriage to Affie Nelson on June 16, 1937 at the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church near LaMoure. The couple made their home in Fullerton, where they owned and operated Nelson Farm Supply. May also worked for many years as the kitchen supervisor at the Ellendale Nursing Home in Ellendale, North Dakota. Affie died on January 15, 1960. May continued to live in Fullerton until October of 2006, when she entered the Oakes Good Samaritan in Oakes, North Dakota. She was a member of the Fullerton Union Church and was active with the altar guild. She loved gardening and having a nice yard with many flowers. May will be remembered as one who was always available and willing to help her friends. May died on Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center in Oakes, North Dakota. She was 88 years old. She is survived by one son, Jerry (Joy), Manitou Springs, CO; three grandsons, Jeff (Brenda), Olathe, KS, Michael (Danielle), Colorado Springs, CO, and Darren (Jennifer) Virginia Beach, VA; and eight great-grandchildren, Hayley and Tanner, Olathe, KS, Seth, Kera, and Kate, Colorado Springs, CO, Janel, Logan and Trevor, Virginia Beach, VA. May was preceded in death by her husband, one son Harvey, five brothers, Ernie, Vern, Roy, Glenn, and Dale, and one sister, Hazel. The funeral for May Nelson, of Fullerton, North Dakota will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Fullerton Union Church in Fullerton, with Reverend David Bennett officiating. Burial will be at the Mapleview Cemetery, near Fullerton. Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Oakes is in charge of the arrangements.
