Description	:	Edna was born May 24, 1916, at the family home in Little Pumpkin Creek, Mont., the third of four children born to Leonard C. and Rosina (Lechner) Larson. The family moved from Montana to Wyoming and then Washington, finally settling in Moscow in 1927. Edna attended school in Moscow, graduating from Moscow High School in 1934. After graduation, she attended two years at the University of Idaho, where she studied to become a teacher. Read More	Edna was born May 24, 1916, at the family home in Little Pumpkin Creek, Mont., the third of four children born to Leonard C. and Rosina (Lechner) Larson. The family moved from Montana to Wyoming and then Washington, finally settling in Moscow in 1927. Edna attended school in Moscow, graduating from Moscow High School in 1934. After graduation, she attended two years at the University of Idaho, where she studied to become a teacher. While attending the University of Idaho, Edna and her sisters would walk to Pullman to attend the college dances. It was at one of those dances that she met a young carpenter named Gordon Holbrook. After courting for some time, they were married Dec. 1, 1935, in Moscow. After their marriage, Edna and Gordon spent the next 38 years moving all over the Pacific Northwest to places where Gordon could find work in the building trades, including time spent living in Washington cities Pullman, Bremerton, Moses Lake and Palouse, as well as Joel, Idaho, where they owned and operated a tavern and grocery store. Over those years, they were blessed with five children - Larry, Gary, Kirby, Rosanne and Robert (aka "Butch"). Mr. Holbrook passed away in 1973 from health complications and Edna settled in at the Robinson Mobile Home Park in Moscow a few years after his passing. Since Edna never obtained her driver's license due to poor vision, Robinson was a perfect fit for her as she could walk wherever she needed to go around town. Edna worked as a housekeeper at the Gritman Medical Center before starting her most enjoyable job, working at Washington State University's Food and Housing department in 1967. While at WSU she was responsible for housekeeping at the boys' dormitory, and through that job she became lifelong friends with many of the young residents there. She retired from WSU in 1981. In retirement, Edna was a volunteer at the Gritman Medical Center gift shop, as well as an active member and volunteer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moscow. She was an avid reader, loved playing cards and board games, taking walks and spending time with her grandchildren. She kept an immaculate yard, loved to read, and most of all she loved music and dancing. She will be fondly remembered as "The Cookie Grandma," not only by her grandchildren, but by many of their friends as well. Edna was a remarkable and very witty woman who never stopped "doing things." Even into her late 90s, and after suffering a few falls and broken bones, she still enjoyed doing water exercises three days a week and spending time with her friends at Circles of Caring Adult Day Health. Her family recalls her insistence on doing the hula at her 97th birthday party, even if she had to keep one hand on her walker. She always had a smile and her warm and loving personality will be truly missed by all who knew her. Survivors names omitted per findgrave policy.
