Edna was born October 18, 1919, to Harry and Hattie (Alderson) Ohlsen at Schaller, Iowa. She worked on the farm with her parents. Edna married Burley E. Grove at the family farm on February 27, 1940. The couple farmed surrounding areas of Arthur and Galva until retirement. The couple was blessed with four children, Edna was a wonderful wife and mother. She worked many years at the Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, Iowa. She welcomed many new babies, helped moms adjust to motherhood, and acquired a vast number of friends. She truly enjoyed her many years at the hospital and all the memories she accumulated. Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church, Arthur, Iowa, until transferring her membership to the United Methodist Church, Holstein, Iowa. She appreciated her church family very much. Edna loved to share her talent and ability of taking scraps of material and turning them into beautiful quilts and then sharing them with family members and friends. Her sewing machine was always humming with her little, white head bent over another quilt. She was very well known for her famous apple pies, her delicious chicken pot pies, and her never ending pot of homemade noodles. There were always noodles simmering on the stove waiting for someone to stop in. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Burley, granddaughter, Christie Baker; and brother, Paul Ohlsen. Edna will be missed by her four children and their spouses, Sherry and Gary Gritten of Odebolt, Iowa, Rochelle and Hank Luscombe of Holstein, Iowa, Katie and Steve James of Madison, South Dakota, and Ronnie and Jeanie Grove of Battle Creek, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Wilbur and his wife Jo Ohlsen of Rockwell City, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Marci Ohlsen of Costa Mesa, California.
