D. adds: Edna married Verner Thorp Joslyn on the 29th of November 1900. “Wedding at Silver Creek” “On Thanksgiving afternoon, November 29th, 1900 at two O'clock, at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Scanlon, of Silver Creek, was solemnized the marriage of Mr. Verner T. Joslyn and Miss Edna S. Scanlon. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. H. Taylor, of this city. In the presence of over one hundred relatives and friends of the principals in the event. After the ceremony had been performed and congratulations extended, the house full of guests sat down to a wedding feast, elatorate, and withal, dainty in every appointment. The bride and groom were the recipients of many useful and ornamental gifts. In the evening a number of young people gathered at the Scanlon home to wish the young couple “Much joy”, and a pleasant time was enjoyed by all present. The groom is spoken of as being an honest and industrious young man. The bride is an estimable young lady, and both enjoy the friendship of a large number of people who will unite in wishing them a Happy and prosperous married Life. They will settle down to housekeeping on a farm near Coggon.” - from a News Paper of the time --Also R D commented: Edna and Verner were the parents of nine children two that died young, Their names are as follows, Ronald Scanlon Joslyn, Leland Burl Joslyn, Hazel Mae (Joslyn) Mangold, Esther Addie (Joslyn) Kramer, Donald LaVane Joslyn, Frances Fern (Joslyn) {Faust} Mussehl, Harlan Verner Joslyn, Royce Frederick Joslyn and Milton LaVern Joslyn. During most of their married life, Edna and Vern farmed, near Elher, Masonville and Oneida, Iowa. Never moving too far from their home ground and always close to some family. Edna was also a midwife. Moving to Manchester in about 19___ where Vern worked in town. Like all of her sisters, Edna gave her undivided attention to her home and family. Her children all married and prospered well. Edna died on Wednesday, May 29th, 1941 at St. Frances Hospital in Waterloo Iowa after an operation and was sincerely mourned by her large family, relations and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held at Silver Creek Church Reverend Thomas P. Shaffer, pastor of local Methodist Church presiding. Edna is buried in the Silver Creek Cemetery, Prairie Township, Delaware County, Iowa.
