Description	:	Edna Rae Sleggel, daughter of D.C. and Sarah Sleggel, was born near Brooklyn, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1891, and died at her home in Montezuma, Ia., Feb. 28, 1917, aged 26 years and 22 days. On August 24, 1915, she was united in marriage to Mr. Samuel E. Smith and the happy couple came to Montezuma to reside. Just a few months ago a pretty home was completed and furnished. Read More	Edna Rae Sleggel, daughter of D.C. and Sarah Sleggel, was born near Brooklyn, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1891, and died at her home in Montezuma, Ia., Feb. 28, 1917, aged 26 years and 22 days. On August 24, 1915, she was united in marriage to Mr. Samuel E. Smith and the happy couple came to Montezuma to reside. Just a few months ago a pretty home was completed and furnished. Into this home they moved with joyous hearts, looking to the future with pleasant anticipations. During her residence here Mrs. Smith had endeared herself to many friends and her passing away came as a great shock to them. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of the Brooklyn high school with the class of 1909. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Brooklyn June 9, 1912. She retained her fellowship with that church and maintained her faith in Christ. She was also associated with the Rebekah sisterhood at Montezuma. Besides the grief stricken husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Sleggel, of Brooklyn, three brothers: Oliver and D.K. Sleggel of Lake Hamilton, Florida, Charles of Brooklyn, two sisters, Mrs. G.E. Binegar of Des Moines, and Mrs. J.W. Frizzell of Brooklyn. Her husband's parents,Mr. and Mrs. P.F. Smith, also mourn her as a daughter beloved, and she will be greatly missed by them. Funeral services were held in the Montezuma Methodist church conducted by the Rev. George Blagg, assissted by the Rev. A.M. Smith of Brooklyn and by a quartette consisting of Mrs. Chas. Gorsuch, Miss Edith Hutchinson and Messrs Heath and Good, whose message in song was a source of comfort to the bereaved. The services were largely attended by friends and the Rebekah sisterhood. The burial was a Brooklyn, Iowa.
