Read More	The Brooklyn (IA) Chronicle; June 16, 1921 OBITUARY Sarah Tinker was born in Butler county, Penn., March 22nd, 1852. Departed this life in Brooklyn, Iowa, Sabbath morning, June 5th, 1921, being at the time of her death in her 70th year. She was the daughter of Edwin and Arabella Tinker. Their family consisted of twelve children, six boys and six girls. Of this family four brothers and three sisters still live. Mrs. Sleggel came to Iowa with her parents in the fall of 1856 when she was but four years of age. Brooklyn and vicinity has been her home for the past 65 years with the exception of the three years they lived in Texas. On the 26th day of January, 1870 she was united in marriage to Mr. D.C. Sleggel. There were six children born to this home, three boys and three girls. They are as follows: Mrs. J.W. Frizzell, Brooklyn, Ia, Oliver C. and D.K. of Auburndale, Florida, Mrs. G.E. Binegar of Grinnell, Iowa, Charles of Brooklyn; and one deceased, Mrs. Edna Smith, whose death occurred about four years ago. While in Texas Mr. and Mrs. Sleggel attended a revival camp meeting, they both converted and identified themselves with the Methodist church. Mrs. Sleggel has been an interested, faithful member of the church for the last 43 years. She was a member of the W.R.C. of this place. The death of her husband, Mr. Sleggel occurred about a year ago. Mrs. Sleggel was of a quiet and unassuming disposition, but very conscientious in the doing of those things which she considered came in the line of duty. She was very kind and thoughtful to others, using every opportunity to render that service that was within her power. Her neighbors say "She never spoke evil of anyone." She has beeen failing in health since early in the spring and was confined to her bed a little more than three weeks. She quietly fell asleep Sabbath morning. It was then she answered the call, "It is enough, come up higher." The funeral services were held at the Methodist church June 7th conducted by Rev. John W. Pool assisted by Rev. Holler. The W.R.C. conducted a brief service at the grave. Her body was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Brooklyn cemetery.
