She was born March 3, 1908, at Charter Oak, near Talmage, daughter of J.H. Julius and Emma W. (Niebrugge) Damme. She married Fred Schweppe Jr. Nov. 12, 1930 and Vernon Earl Sept. 28, 1945. Earl, 99, Syracuse, formerly Talmage and Cook, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She was born March 3, 1908, at Charter Oak, near Talmage, daughter of J.H. Julius and Emma W. (Niebrugge) Damme. She married Fred Schweppe Jr. Nov. 12, 1930 and Vernon Earl Sept. 28, 1945. She lived at Talmage and Cook before she moved to Syracuse in 1963. She was a farm wife and worked in the dietary department at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She enjoyed gardening, making cinnamon rolls, canning, card clubs, crocheting and gatherings with family and friends. Surviving are a son, Darrell Schweppe and wife Trudee, Lincoln; grandchildren, Sarah Montgomery, Grain Valley, Mo., and Rebecca Schweppe and husband Wayne Kunze, Denver; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Allyson Kunze; stepdaughters, Virginia Haupt, Syracuse, and Donna Leece and husband John, Omaha; stepsons, Stewart Earl and wife Kay, Phoenix, and Kenneth Earl and wife Patricia, Henderson, Nev.; 17 step-grandchildren; 55 step-great-grandchildren; 23 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eldora Wellensiek and husband Harold, Tecumseh; brother, Eldon Damme and wife Margaret, Plattsmouth; sister-in-law, Della Earl, Seward; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her husbands; sister, Esta Behrens; brother, Elmer Damme and stepson, Keith Earl. Services are Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Osage, north of Cook. The Rev. Bharat Surender will officiate. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews: Denver Behrens; Dr. Jerry Damme, LaVerne Damme, Larry Damme, Dan Lueders and Rick Noda. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Royal and Lesley Berner. Delores Holscher will be organist. A men's quartet of Wesley Damme, Roger Poppe, Robert Niedermeyer and Neri Holscher will sing. Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday, March 30, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. with family members greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home, Syracuse. Memorials are suggested to: St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Osage, church and cemetery fund or Syracuse Rescue Squad. Condolences may be left at: www.fusselmanwymore.com.
