Description	:	Funeral services for Edward A. Squier, 79, who died Tuesday, March 24, at Mount Vernon, Washington, were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Barnard Funeral Home with Rev. R. Roy Brown of the Methodist church officiating. Mrs. P. W. Peters accompanied Mrs. Ralph Doty when she sang "Near the Cross" and "Nearer My God to Thee". Pall bearers were L. L. Abbey, Chris Schiefen, George Schiefen, Louis Wegner, Everett Hamilton and Russ Younie. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Mr. Squier was an early day resident of this vicinity, but went west a number of years ago with his sons and had lived in the state of Washington a number of years. A son of J. M. and Mary E. Squier, he was born June 6, 1873, in Linn County in eastern Iowa. At the age of 14 he moved to Hawarden and settled on a farm northeast of town where he lived many years. In February, 1901, he married Miss Lucy White and to this union five sons were born. His wife and two sons preceded him in death. Mrs. Squier died in March, 1927; a son, Glenn died when only a few months old and a second son, Harley, died in 1929 at the age of 20, As a young man he joined the Baptist church in Hawarden and later he and his family attended the Methodist Church. Survivors are three sons, Wayne of Concrete, Washington, Orville of Tacoma, Washington, and Leland of Seattle,; a brother, J.A. Squier of Hawarden; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
