Description	:	Edward Albert Bartachek, son of Joseph and Gusta Martens Bartachek, was born Sept. 3, 1906, Poweshiek County, IA, and died Saturday, August 3, 1985, in the Grinnell Hospital, Grinnell, IA, at the age of 78 years and 11 months. He attended Bear Creek School #1 and graduated from the Brooklyn High School in 1926. He farmed and was a projectionist at the Opera House; was tile drainage contractor for 22 years; drove a school bus for four years; was a custodian at the post office and worked part time for the Nevenhoven Funeral Home. He attended Bear Creek School #1 and graduated from the Brooklyn High School in 1926. He farmed and was a projectionist at the Opera House; was tile drainage contractor for 22 years; drove a school bus for four years; was a custodian at the post office and worked part time for the Nevenhoven Funeral Home. Mr. Bartachek was united in marriage to Nina Manatt on May 24, 1929, in Des Moines, IA. Mr. Bartachek was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, Knights of Pythias, member of the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Dept. for 28 years; and a member of the Grinnell Stamp Club. Survivors include his wife, Nina; one daughter, Sylvia, Mrs. James L. Glass of Brooklyn; one sister, Florence, Mars. Marion Goodrich of Brooklyn, 5 grand-daughters; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred; and one great-grandson, James Kent Rasmussen. Funeral services were held at 2 PM Tuesday, August 6, 1985, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn, IA. Officiating was Rev. Glenn Hulsebus and the organist was Carol McClenathan. Flower attendants were Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Dale and Mr. & Mrs. John Roudabush. Honorary casket=bearers were Amos Reida and Harold Schrader. Casket-Bearers were John Bartachek, Roger Bartachek, Marvin Goodrich, Roger Hall, Dale Hawkins and Lonnie White. Interment followed in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn. Nevenhoven Funeral Services of Brooklyn was in charge of arrangements.
