Description	:	OBITUARY: Edward Albert Dietrich Oestmann, son of August H.F. and Marie Sophia Wilhelmina Grube. was born August 13, 1914,at their rural home southwest of Johnson, Nebraska. He was one of seven children. He was baptized Sept 13, 1914, by Pastor J.A. Hansen and was confirmed on Palm Sunday March 24, 1929, by Pastor A.J. Mikkelsen. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson where he served as Financial Secretary. Ed attended the Dewey Rural School for eight years. He was one of seven children. He was baptized Sept 13, 1914, by Pastor J.A. Hansen and was confirmed on Palm Sunday March 24, 1929, by Pastor A.J. Mikkelsen. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson where he served as Financial Secretary. Ed attended the Dewey Rural School for eight years. He furthered his education in welding at the Omaha University. He was a farmer, drove the Johnson School bus for fourteen years, was a reknown wood carver using a pocket knife carving around 3,000 items. He was a member of the "National Wood Carvers Association" and "Mid-America Wood Carvers." he was fond of fishing and hunting. he was married July 26, 1942 to Lucille Lillian Duey at the Brock Christian Church by Rev. E.C. Davis. They lived at their farm home 1 1/2 miles southwest of Johnson for 54 years. He was a lifetime resident of Nemaha County. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herber, Lawrence, Ervin, and Julia. Edward was 82 years, one month and 13 days old when he passed away at his home September 26, 1996. Surviving are his wife, Lucille, daughter Myrna Esluer of Omaha, son, Duey Oestmann of Johnson. sisters, Esther Knipplemeier and husband Walter of Johnson, Alice Hahn of auburn; sister-in-law; Edna Oestmann of Johnson, Helen (Duey)Lowrey. Lincoln; brother-in-law, David Dueyof Plattsmouth. Funeral services were held at 2:00p.m. Monday, September 30, 1996 at St.Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson by Reerend Irvin Briese. Organist was Susan Hogrefe and duet was sung by Harold and Orvin Oestmann. Interment was at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Dunekacke, Eldon Oestmann, Jim Hahn, Lee Dunekacke, Ralph Oestmann, Paul Dunekacke, Brad Knippelmeier and Steve Hahn. Honorary pallbearers were Warren Brown, Lyle Adams, Arthur Duey, Dennis Duey, Ronald Lowrey, DAvid Duey, Marvin Adams, Daniel Dickerson, Kent Duey, Lee Duey, Lon Lowrey and Doug Duey. assisting with flowerw were Mary Gerdes, Janne Oestmann Tisdale and Mardelle Amstutz.
