Description	:	Edward A. Murrell was born in Swatham, Norfolk, England, February 14, 1844 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. V.S. Capes of Fairmont, Nebraska, February 28, 1930. Mr. Murrell came to Nebraska in May, 1873, and homesteaded near Orleans, Nebraska. Murrell was born in Swatham, Norfolk, England, February 14, 1844 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. V.S. Capes of Fairmont, Nebraska, February 28, 1930. Mr. Murrell came to Nebraska in May, 1873, and homesteaded near Orleans, Nebraska. He was joined in holy wedlock to Eliza Keil February 16, 1881, and to this union eight children were born: Charlie, deceased: Edward C. Murrell of Geneva, Mrs. Anna E. Parker and Mrs. Ada C. Capes of Fairmont; Mrs. Rose M. Joy of Campbell, George G. Murrell, John A Murrell and Harry C. Murrell, all of Fairmont. There are eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who mourn his departure, and two grandchildren have preceded him. One sister living in London, England, survives him. His wife departed this life May 21, 1898. Besides the relatives there is a host of friends who mourn his going. Mr. Murrell joined the Christian church as a young man. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon, at two o'clock in charge of Rev. C.H. Lind of the Methodist church. Interment was made in the family plot in the Fairmont cemetery. Mr. Murrell had been confined to his home and a greater part of the time to his bed the past fifteen months. The previous thirty-six hours he was in a stupor; death came at 10:45 Friday morning. He was a good father, and highly esteemed in this community, where he had lived so many years. When Mrs. Murrell was called from the family of seven children in 1898, the elder daughter, Anna, being but thirteen years of age, while the younger son, Harry, was but eighteen months old, he kept the family group together and took up his task of being both father and mother to them, having the satisfaction of seeing them grow to worthy men and women. In his declining years, they all contributed to his comfort and care and he was happy. The floral offerings were many and the funeral was largely attended.
