Description	:	Edward was born July 21, 1921. He was the first of two sons born to Andrew Christian Christensen and Clara Bader, and was born in Denver Colorado. When Ed was five or six he contracted scarlet fever, and was kept in bed for six months. This is where he developed his talent for learning and school. He was the first of two sons born to Andrew Christian Christensen and Clara Bader, and was born in Denver Colorado. When Ed was five or six he contracted scarlet fever, and was kept in bed for six months. This is where he developed his talent for learning and school. He was a good student, but played his share of pranks. At one point, he and his brother covertly assembled a tractor on the third story roof of the High School. Ed graduated as Valedictorian from Douglas County High School in May 1939. Ed then went to the University of Colorado, majoring in Pharmacy. During his time in pharmacy school, he worked weekends and holidays at Van Lopik's drug store in Castle Rock. He graduated Salutatorian of his class in 1943. Just before he went off to the war he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He then went into the Merchant Marines and served as a Pharmacist Mate in the south pacific for the duration of the war. After being discharged from the Merchant Marines, he returned to Castle Rock and worked at the school of pharmacy in Boulder Colorado. He still worked at Van Lopik's drug store on weekends and holidays, and it was during this time that he met Alice Gordon, a teller at the bank of Douglas County, the bank Van Lopik's store used. From the account that his brother "Bumps" tells, once Edward saw Alice he was "smitten" with her and would only do his deposits in her line at the bank. Ed and Alice were married on December 15, 1949 in Denver Colorado. They then moved to Boulder, where Ed was teaching pharmacy. During this time they had their first child, Dawn. Three months later they moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Ed taught in the pharmacy school at the University of Arkansas. During their stay there they met the Mormon Missionaries and Alice was baptized. Then, to keep life interesting, a year later they moved back to Castle Rock, buying the Van Lopik Drug store in August 1952. They had four more children, and in addition to the drug store, Ed's love for teaching took him to the University of Denver where he taught in the Accounting department for ten years. They sold the Christensen Pharmacy in 1965, and moved to Weatherford Oklahoma. There, Ed was a full professor in the pharmacy department at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1978, Ed's mother came to live with them. Edward passed away of a heart attack on the 13th of August 1984, his heart being weakened by the scarlet fever he had as a child, while on a trip to Washington DC. His mother passed away four days later. Ed was very kind to all those around him, and especially loved children and animals. He is and always will be missed by those who knew him.
