Read More	Edward David Harshman, 72, Middletown, died Monday March 23 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in baltimore.Born in Frederick on October 16, 1942 he was a son of the late John Edgar and Elsie Routzahn Harshman. Mr. Harshman was employed in his early years at Frederick Iron and Steel, Fairchild Industries, American Optical and finally for a number of years with Cleon Stull machine shop in Frederick until his retirement. He was a member of Christ Reformed Church, Middletown and a veteran of the US Army. He is survived by a number of cousins and close friends.Graveside funeral services will be held 10 AM on Thursday March 26 in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Friends may call at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown one hour prior to the graveside service on Thursday. Thanks for coming It didn’t take much to make Eddie happy; all he needed was a bucket of shelled corn to feed the deer, turkeys and squirrels. He enjoyed seeing all the wildlife on his property. He was always thrilled to see black bears out his front window. He took pictures of all the different wildlife that came on his property and would show them to friends and even some of his doctors. In the summer he liked feeding and watching the humming birds. He enjoyed going to target shoots and just hanging out with his friends. Eddie was not afraid to speak his mind and share his point of view. Most I agreed with, a few I did not, with those few I would just let slide by. On Feb. 1st our daughter Kathy was hospitalized for 15 days after surgery. I told Eddie about it and even though he was ill and suffering he was concerned about Kathy. He would ask, is she ok I hope she gets well soon. That’s the Eddie I knew, he put the well-being of others before himself. It was a rare occasion that Eddie would ask for help, it wasn’t in his nature. Even in the last few months he still fought it but he became so weak he couldn’t drive himself to the doctor or hospital. He was blessed with a great father and mother as they instilled many good values that he lived by all his life. I’m sure Eddie would want me to thank all of his family and friends for being here today in celebration of his life. Thanks; Bill Fulmer

What a wonderful cousin Eddie was. Always had a smile. Would always ask how everyone in our family was doing and would always stop to see us if he was in the area. But, would not call when he was sick or went to the hospital. One time I called him several times and he did not answer the phone. So, I called the hospital and they said he was admitted. So my husband and I went to see him. He asked, " How did you know I was here?" He did not want to bother us when he was sick. We really enjoyed going to visit him, except I did not like the drive up his road especially when a car would be coming in the opposite direction and you had to back down the road! So many deer he would feed. Beautiful hummingbirds that would fly over your head when you sat out back. One year he told us that he used 65 lbs. of sugar to feed them! And of course the bear he had. And we can not forget going mushroom hunting. He would go with us and stop and asked "Do you see any?" Sure enough there were some. Eddie had a wonderful gathering of family and friends at the funeral home. I don not think he would have believed those many people would come to honor him.So many kind words were said about him at his funeral. We all know where you are at now and not suffering.
