His mother decided to call him Edward, and gave him two middle names to keep peace in the family. Ed married Edith and they had 14 children: Wayne "Bud", Gerald, Betty Jean, Max, Edna, Nola "Joan", Mildred "Sweetie", Jack, Bernie, Beverly, Ernie, Shirley, Linda, and Judy. Kathy Neary officiating. Burial was i. The Grant Cemetery, Grant, IA. Edward Dorsey Weeks was born Dec. 23, 1902, northwest of Grant, IA, to (Wilder) James and Mettie (Odell) Weeks. He died April 6, 1997 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center in Villisca, IA. In 1921 he graduated from the 11th grade in Grant and completed the 12th year when it was added to the curriculum. He married Edith L. Ator in 1924, at Audubon, IA. He was a beekeeper, farmed, worked on CWA at Mt. Etna gravel pit, in the coal mines, WPA during the depression, Ed also worked on construction. He was an active member in the Sioux Bee Association for many years. He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife; son Gerald; daughters Shirley Christensen and Nola Joan Strait; three grandsons; and sons-in-law Ray Keefe and Donald Reichardt.
