Description	:	December 11, 1930 - Arlington Review-Herald Edward Rothe was born September 23rd 1865 in Wolhymien, Russia. He came to Washington County, Nebraska in 1892 where he resided, north of Arlington until his end, for 38 years. February 6, 1898 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Hanna Franke. He came to Washington County, Nebraska in 1892 where he resided, north of Arlington until his end, for 38 years. February 6, 1898 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Hanna Franke. To this union two daughters were born. Mr. Rothe was taken to the Richmond hospital in Fremont on November 21st to undergo a serious operation which was performed on the day before Thanksgiving, November 26th. He died there last Saturday evening at the age 65 years, 2 months and 13 days. He leaves to mourn his loss the bereaved widow, two stepsons, William and Ed Franke, two step daughters Mrs. Herman Schoettger, and Mrs. Henry Nieman, two direct daughters, Mrs. L. H. Kuchn of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Hilda Rothe, staying with the mother, three sons in law, one daughter in law, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, one in California, the other in Russia, two brothers in law and five sisters in law, and other distant relatives. Mr. Rothe, quiet and unassuming in his life, was a faithful husband and father as well as a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. At his funeral which took place last Tuesday at one o'clock in the home, two miles east of Fontanelle, and 1:30 at St. Paul's Church. His pastor spoke words of comfort on the words of Jacob, Genesis 48,21: "Behold, I die: but God shall be with you" in German; and on Romans 8,17,17: "If children, than heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. For I reckon that the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us, in English. The funeral was attended by a very large congregation of about 500. Interment was made in the St. Paul's cemetery 18 Dec., 1930 - The Enterprise Funeral services for Ed Rothe, well known and highly respected farmer, living northwest of Arlington, were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, being conducted by his pastor, Rev. G. W. Wolter. Deceased was 65 years of age and was born in Russia, coming to this vicinity 38 years ago. In 1898 he was married to Mrs. Hannah Franke, and two children were born to this union. While Mr. Rothe's health had been poor for some time, he had been able to do his own work, and his condition was not regarded as serious. The day before Thanksgiving he submitted to an operation at Fremont, and on Dec. 6th died there. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Miss Hilda Rothe of Arlington and Mrs. Leo Kuehn of Detroit and four stepchildren, Mrs. Herman Schoettger of Fontanelle, Mrs. Henry Nieman of Fremont, Will Franke of Arlington and Ed Franke of Detroit. ~~~Obituaries courtesy of the Nebraska Washington County Genealogical Society. In 1940, residing in Detroit, Michigan with his wife, Mildred ( b ca 1914 in IL) and her single sister, Anna Schwein (b ca 1906 in MI). Both Edward and Anna were school teachers; he at a Lutheran school. Children of Edward Rothe and Hannah Kruger Franke Rothe: NL Lydia M. Rothe, b ca 1898 in Nebraska. Md Leo Herman Kuehn on 8/9/1925 in Washington County, Nebraska. Leo was b June 22 1896, in Dudleytown, Jackson County, IN, and was the son of Edward, # 147651148, and Emma, # 147651221, Kuehn. Lydia was said to have died in 1960 in Michigan. Two children. NL Hilda O Rothe, b ca 1901 in Nebraska. Resided with her parents through at least 1930, and then with her sister, Lydia's, family in 1940 in Royal Oak City, Oakland, Michigan.
