At the age of sox, he moved with his parents to the farm located southeast of what is now Stickney, where he resided until August, 1973, when he and his wife moved into Stickney. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith at Hillside. In 1937, he was confirmed and joined the Lutheran church at Stickney--later changing his membership to the united Methodist church in Stickney. On September 26, 1928, he was married to Anna Welty at Wahoo, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: Delmar of Plankinton, George of Lennox, and Marianna of Academy. Survivors include his wife, Anna; children, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Nowak, Mr. and Mrs. George Nowak, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Marianna) Girton; one brother, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nowak; eight grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers and his parents.
