Description	:	Surrounded by his loving family, Edward (Ed) Eugene Stauffer, native of Buena Vista, passed away Oct. 10 at his home in Buena Vista. Ed was born on Feb. 23, 1931, to Ethel and Virgil Stauffer. He was raised in Buena Vista and attended through high school. Ed later enlisted in the United States Navy with fighter squadron VF-143 where he served a four-year tour with two tours of duty in Korea during the Korean War. Read More	Surrounded by his loving family, Edward (Ed) Eugene Stauffer, native of Buena Vista, passed away Oct. 10 at his home in Buena Vista. Ed was born on Feb. 23, 1931, to Ethel and Virgil Stauffer. He was raised in Buena Vista and attended through high school. Ed later enlisted in the United States Navy with fighter squadron VF-143 where he served a four-year tour with two tours of duty in Korea during the Korean War. Ed sailed on the aircraft carrier Essex. Upon his discharge, Ed earned six medals, including the Korean Presidential unit citation and the United Nations Service Medal. Ed was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1166 and American Legion Lodges. Before retiring, Ed worked at the Climax Molybdeum Mine and retired after 30 years of employment with that company. In 1953, he married Barbara Benson. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Virgil Stauffer, his brother, Johnny Stauffer, his sister, Virginia Stewart, and granddaughter, Leslie Stauffer. A devoted husband and father, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football, boxing and spending time with his family. He will be missed and remembered by all. Memorial services for Edward Stauffer will be held at the American Legion Hall at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5.
