Description	:	Edward Francis DuBois was born near Tipton, in Cedar county, Iowa, February 12, 1860. He departed this life at his home in Geneva, Neb., March 25, 1943, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 13 days. He came to Saline county, Nebraska with his parents when but a small boy. The family located ten miles north of what is now Tobias, and here he grew to manhood amid the hardships of early pioneer life. Read More	Edward Francis DuBois was born near Tipton, in Cedar county, Iowa, February 12, 1860. He departed this life at his home in Geneva, Neb., March 25, 1943, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 13 days. He came to Saline county, Nebraska with his parents when but a small boy. The family located ten miles north of what is now Tobias, and here he grew to manhood amid the hardships of early pioneer life. When a young man he purchased a farm near Western, Neb., at 50 cents an acre, and here he lived in a dugout until January 24, 1988, when he was united in marriage to Ida Mae Godfrey. He then built a one-room house, which they made their home for twenty-six years, and here they reared their family, one daughter and seven sons. Later he purchased a farm near Strang, Neb., where they made their home for six years. In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. DuBois retired from the farm and moved to Geneva. January 24, 1936, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. DuBois was a good citizen, a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend and neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Nickel of Bloomington, Cal., six sons, Ray of Tobias, George of Strang, Murry of Torrance, Cal., Don of Richland, Ia., Howard of Lincoln, and Verne of Strang; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; besides other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by Mrs. DuBois on February 12, 1936, a son Roy, January 5, 1929, and by two brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were conducted in the Hrubesky funeral home on Sunday afternoon, March 28, Rev. W. B. Pardun, pastor of the First Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The music was provided by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. H. A. Rosenau, Mrs. W. B. Pardum, Edgar Miller, and E. R. Montgomery, with Mrs. Chauncey Hrubesky at the piano. The pallbearers were six grandsons, Clifford Smith, Robert Nedrow, Bernard, DuBois, Lowell Messman, Leland DuBois and Kenneth DuBois. Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Donald DuBois of Packwood, Ia.; Mrs. Lynn Rohrer of Pratt's Hollow, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. John Nickel and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Nickel of Wester; Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Maas and Mrs. Leonard Mass of Tobias. The Nebraska Signal 01 April 1943 page 5
