Description	:	Edward Francis Austin was born in Grand Forks, ND on October 15th, 1920 and passed away on March 4th, 2009. He worked on his parent’s farm until he graduated from high school in 1938. After graduation, Ed worked three different jobs in order to purchase a 1931 Model A Deluxe Roadster. Ed participated in D-Day at Normandy Beach, survived the... Read More	Edward Francis Austin was born in Grand Forks, ND on October 15th, 1920 and passed away on March 4th, 2009. He worked on his parent’s farm until he graduated from high school in 1938. After graduation, Ed worked three different jobs in order to purchase a 1931 Model A Deluxe Roadster. Having a car allowed him to venture to Crookston, MN where he met and married Helen Marion Lindberg in 1943. Ed joined the army during WWII and rose to the rank of 1st Sergeant. Ed participated in D-Day at Normandy Beach, survived the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded 3 battle stars. In 1948 Ed moved his family to Seattle, WA to work for The Boeing Company. He was promoted into management and spent 17 years supporting the Minuteman Missile Program throughout the Midwest, which gave Ed and Helen many opportunities to visit their relatives in North Dakota. Ed retired from The Boeing Company after a career spanning 35 years. Ed turned his passion for antique cars into a hobby, collecting Studebakers and attending car meets all over the country. Ed was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club for 26 years and also served as President for the NW Chapter of the Avanti Club for 6 years. Ed is survived by his wife, Helen, daughter, Gayle North and husband Robert, daughter Vickie Graham, son Gary Austin and his wife Nancy. Ed also has three surviving sisters; Peggy Norton, Adorine Scheving, Loretta Norton and two brothers, Jack Austin and Keith Austin, all currently residing in Minnesota and North Dakota. Ed was blessed with a loving family of 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A reception honoring Ed will be held at the Foster-Tukwila Presbyterian Church, 14401 56th Ave. S., Tukwila WA from 2-4:00 pm on Friday March 13th. A veterans memorial service will be scheduled at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery in the Spring.
