Edward George Kirnan was born June 21, 1908 to George and Mathilda (Carlson) Kirnan in rural Wetonka in McPherson County. He attended school in that area. As a young man, he farmed with his parents. Later he worked at the W. E. "Buster" Boyle farm at Wetonka. He married Adeline E. Mehlhaff on March 20, 1941, at Aberdeen. They lived on a farm near Leola. They moved to Aberdeen in 1958, where he worked at the Starlite Truck Stop and later at the Champlin station. He then became a ticket agent for the Carl Swanson Bus Depot and the Jack Rabbit Lines. He semi-retired in 1975 and worked at the Jim Young farm at Stratford in the spring and fall. His wife died in April 1990 and he moved to the Aberdeen Living Center that same year. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and one sister. Casketbearers will be John Kirnan, Jeff Kirnan, Leonard Hottman, Cletus Heinz, Marvin Mehlhaff and Leonard Geffre. The organist will be Jude Borgesen. The soloist will be Sheila Blomster.
