Description	:	Edward H. Gahman was born in Chanute, Kansas on December 19, 1922 to Levi and Myrtle (Hunt) Gahman at the Neosho County Hospital. "Ed" attended the Chanute, Neosho County, schools for his elementary and secondary education, and graduated from Chanute High School in 1941. Following his completion of high school he worked in at a local business until military service began with WWII when he was called into the Navy on May 15, 1943. Gahman was born in Chanute, Kansas on December 19, 1922 to Levi and Myrtle (Hunt) Gahman at the Neosho County Hospital. "Ed" attended the Chanute, Neosho County, schools for his elementary and secondary education, and graduated from Chanute High School in 1941. Following his completion of high school he worked in at a local business until military service began with WWII when he was called into the Navy on May 15, 1943. Ed was honorably discharged from the Navy in late 1945. Mr. Gahman was employed with the Santa Fe Railway for many years working in the Santa Fe offices in Topeka, retiring in the early 1970s. Following his retirement from Santa Fe Ed began a second career with the Division of Rehabilitation Services in the Central Office as an Administrative Assistant, remaining with the State of Kansas employment until the late 1990s when he retired the second time. Following his retirement Ed continued to live in Topeka for the rest of his life until becoming ill and passing away on May 29, 1999, in Topeka. Ed is survived by his brother Robert "Bob" Gahman, and two sisters, Juanita Sellers, and Phyliss J.Wilson, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, was not married, and lived a very active social life in Topeka. Ed was preceded in death by his sister Florene Whitehead who passed in 1989. Services were provided by Countryside Funeral Home, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
