Description	:	Edward H. Boyens (1896 - 1978 ) Edward Henry Boyens was born Jan. 28, 1896 in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Hans and Mary Johannsen Boyens. He died Nov. 10, 1978 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 82. Edward received his formal education in the rural schools near his home. Boyens (1896 - 1978 ) Edward Henry Boyens was born Jan. 28, 1896 in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Hans and Mary Johannsen Boyens. He died Nov. 10, 1978 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 82. Edward received his formal education in the rural schools near his home. He was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He served in the United States Army during World War I for 15 months. On Sept. 28, 1921 Edward was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jaacks. They started farming in 1922 in Goodrich Township where they lived for eight years. Then Edward farmed with his brother for over 35 years in Hanover Township retiring in 1965. Edward was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth and one brother, Herman. Survivors include, one son Melvin of Lisbon, three grandchildren, one brother William of Denison and one sister Minnie, Mrs. Rudolph Schwitzer, also of Denison. Funeral services were held Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. The Rev. Jack Heck officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Richard Jaacks, Edmund Petersen, Vern Cooper, Robert Jaacks, LaVerne Christiansen and Eldor Schwitzer. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home, Denison.
