Description	:	Sept 7, 1927 - Carroll Times - Edward James passed away at Iowa City Sunday night at 10:40 o'clock after being ailing for the last three months, suffering with Bright's disease. He entered the hospital at Iowa City Sunday, August 28, after first having spent a week at the St. Anthony hospital, this city. His brother-in-law, Gus Vasos, left for Iowa City and accompanied his body to Carroll, arriving here Tuesday morning. He entered the hospital at Iowa City Sunday, August 28, after first having spent a week at the St. Anthony hospital, this city. His brother-in-law, Gus Vasos, left for Iowa City and accompanied his body to Carroll, arriving here Tuesday morning. Edward James was the son of the the Mr. and Mrs. John James and was born at Kellogg, Ia., August 1, 1873. When a small boy he moved to this city with his parents, where most his entire life was spent. He was a cook by trade and was employed at the Schmidt cafe. After the death of his father 18 years ago, he devoted his life to the care of his mother, who passed away October 7, 1925. Grief and lonliness after the passing of his mother is believed to have contributed to his illness and death. He is survived by two sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Alta Striker of Mason City and Mrs. Gus Vasos of this city with whom he made his home since his mother's death; Will James of Minneapolis and Ralph and Roy James of Omaha. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Gus Vasos, Rev. W.H. Parker officiating. Burial was made in the Carroll cemetery.
