Read More	Maggie married Robert Jeffrey on 23 Oct 1886 in Shelby County, Iowa. May 2, 1898 - Carroll Sentinel - The community was startled Friday morning by hearing the sad news that Mrs. R.T. Jeffrey died Friday morning at 4:10 from Bright's disease and heart complications. It was known she was in poor health but not even her most intimate friends suspected that the end was so near. For the past five months she has been failing in health, but until within the past few days she was able to be around. Dr. Kesslor was the family physician and felt that she was in a critical condition but no one who knew her thought it possible that life's troubles were so near the end. She appeared cheerful and contented and met her fate heroically. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. A.F. Ernst preached the sermon. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John James of this city and was united in marriage to ex-Sheriff R.T. Jeffrey twelve years ago at Kirkman, Shelby county. The deceased leaves a kind and loving husband and three small boys, the oldest nine and the youngest four, to mourn her loss. Mr. Jeffrey's many friends sympathize with the bereaved family in this hour of affliction. She was a kind mother and was devotedly attached to her household, and the community in her death loses one of its truest and most worthy mothers. The pall bearers at the funeral were Wm. Bailey, John Selzer, S.H. Johnston, Ed Flinn, H.H. Nolan, and U. Albertson. Mrs. O.F. Secord of Omaha, and Elias James, of Poweshiek county, brother and sister of Mrs. E.T. Jeffrey, and Mr. Jeffrey's father and mother, at Wayne, Neb., are in the city, having been called here to attend the funeral. The funeral of Mrs. R.T. Jeffrey was held yesterday at the Presbyterian church. The services were conducted by Rev. A.F. Ernst. The attendance at the services was large. The deceased was a woman of any excellence and had many friends who joined with the bereaved husband and children in their sorrow.
