Description	:	Edward J. Jarecke, 83, of Clarks died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Edward was born on Dec. 5, 1926, on a farm west of Fullerton to Leo and Julia (Malek) Jarecke. Survivors are: his wife, Evelyn; sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Mary Jo Jarecke of Kearney, Dennis and Julie Jarecke of Fullerton, Richard and Donna Jarecke of St. Louis, Mo., and Paul and Deb Jarecke of Clarks; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Jarecke of Colorado; sister, Joan Emeis of Colorado and a host of friends and relatives. Edward was born on Dec. 5, 1926, on a farm west of Fullerton to Leo and Julia (Malek) Jarecke. Survivors are: his wife, Evelyn; sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Mary Jo Jarecke of Kearney, Dennis and Julie Jarecke of Fullerton, Richard and Donna Jarecke of St. Louis, Mo., and Paul and Deb Jarecke of Clarks; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Jarecke of Colorado; sister, Joan Emeis of Colorado and a host of friends and relatives. Edward graduated from Fullerton High School in 1944 and then entered the U.S. Army, serving during the occupation of Japan. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1946, Ed started farming south of Fullerton. On Sept. 30, 1952, he married Evelyn Boryca at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Krakow. Ed farmed near Fullerton and Clarks until he retired and moved into Clarks in 1996. In his retirement, Ed kept busy woodworking in his garage and gardening. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He served as commander and in various other offices for the Clarks V.F.W. He was a continuous member of the Fullerton American Legion for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 9/8/2010
