"Bill" Trickler died in the Community Care Center at Hemingford, NE, Oct. 13, 1996. Funeral services were Oct. 17, at the Methodist Church in Hemingford and burial was in the Hemingford Cemetery. Bill was born to Henry W. And Alida L. (Barnes) Trickler on Feb. 11, 1924 in Bristow, NE. While attending high school in Valentine in 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. During World War II, he served on board the aircraft carrier USS Franklin CV-13. After the war, he returned home and attended Chadron State College, where he met Iola M. Schekall. They married on Sept. 26, 1947. This union was blessed with six children, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also served as a Motorcycle Patrol Officer for the Alliance Police Department in 1948 and 1949. Bill barbered in Chadron, Alliance and Sidney. In 1951, he accepted a job with the United States Government as an Equipment Design and Tooling Engineering Technician at the Sioux Army Depot in Sidney. He also served as Troop 83's Scout Master in Sidney during the 1950s. When the Sidney facility closed in 1963, he transferred to the Sacramento Army Depot in California, where he retired in 1975 from a disabling illness and returned to Hemingford. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a brother, Larry L. Trickler and a nephew, Jerry L. Trickler. He is survived by his wife, Iola, of Hemingford; Edward J. Trickler, Jr. and Karen Trickler of Alliance; Lynda K. Trickler, Ann E. Trickler, Daniel J. Trickler, William L. and Kimberly L. Trickler of Hemingford; and Julie M. and Jerry Robertson of Washington state; also 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two sisters, Melba Dam of Chadron, and Lorraine Hucke of Hemingford; a brother, Donald Trickler of Fort Myers, FL and brother in law and sister in law, Jim and Donna Schekall of Hemingford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
