Jessop, 67, of 9056 Westview Road, died Thursday, June 19, 1997, at Fort Hamilton-Hughes Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. He was born Feb. 27, 1930 in Connersville to Charles E. and Velma Noel Kuhn Jessop. Until the death of his father in 1960, he worked with him in Jessop's Carmel Coren and Taffy Concession Stand. He retired from Pepsi in 1988 after 25 years. He had been employed by Sperry Rubber & Plastics and Burkharts Plumbing and Heating. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the Carrier USS Sicily in 1948-49, and a 46-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of FOE 1129 in Brookville. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Helmer Jessop, of Brookville; one daughter, Jacie Powell of Everton; a son, Dr. John J. Jessop of Oak Hill, Va.; five grandchildren; his mother, Velma N. Jessop of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Doris Davis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Emmaline Dudley of Connersville. He was preceded in death by his father. Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main St., Brookville, with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with graveside services by Bernard Hurst Post No. 77 American Legion. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a masonic memorial service is scheduled at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the cancer fund.
