They made daily trips to the Hospital to be with him. He is survived by his wife, Carrie; five sons and two daughters: Kermit of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Gerald of Hooper, Neil of Lincoln; Robert of Minn.; James of Midland, Texas; Mrs. Ray Fauss (Mary) of Chamberlain, S. Dak.; and Mrs. Leonard Z--- (Helen) of Ames. Also 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and one brother, Ernest Dau of St. Francis, Kansas. He was preceded in death by one daughter, his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters. The Rev. G. Van Boening conducted the funeral service at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Monday. Music was by Donald Shaffer, soloist, and Mrs. Edmund Wagner, organist. Pallbearers were Fred Ott, Elmer Schwab, Norris Lallman, Sherman Wagner, William Hargens and Donald Schwab. Edward Dau was born on a farm near Hooper on May 29, 1887, the son of the late Peter and Margarata Dau. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He attended Dodge County Schools and the Fremont Normal He married Carrie Heller at Fremont Sept. 23, 1910, and they observed their Golden Wedding anniversary. He was a rural mail carrier out of Hooper for 40 years, from July 1909 to Sept. 1960. Mr. Dau started in the times when the job paid $75 a month, and made the rounds by open buggy or sled, in mud and snow drifts and over poorly maintained roads. He bought his first auto on May 13, 1911, but at first it could be used only when roads and weather were in tip top condition. Mr. Dau, always friendly and good-natured to everyone, was call "Pappy" by just about everyone in the community. His passing is mourned by a wide circle of friends, who held him in high esteem. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Obituary - Edward Dau Edward Dau, 75, of Hooper, Dies Hooper - Services for Edward Dau, 75, of Hooper, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Grant Van Boening officiating. Mr. Dau died Thursday in a Fremont hospital. He had been in ill health for five years and hospitalized for the last 4« months. The body will lie in state between 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Wollmer and Warne Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery. Mr. Dau was born May 29, 1887 on a farm near Hooper, where he lived his entire life. He had been a rural mail carrier for 40 years, between 1909-1951 with the exception of two years. He attended Fremont Normal School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was married September 23, 1910 in Fremont to Carrie Heller. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1960. Survivors besides his widow include five sons, Kermit of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Gerald of Hooper, Neil of Lincoln, Robert of Welcome, Minnesota, and James of Midland, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Mary) Fauss of Chamberlain, South Dakota, and Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Zahourek of Ames, 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one brother, Ernest of Saint Francis, Kansas.
