Her parents are Dierk Detlef Schoolmann and Magdalena Schenk. Obituary - 22 Jun 1916 Hooper Sentinel MRS. P.H. DAU SUMMONED Miss Margaret E. Schuman was born at Wesselburen, Holstein, Germany, February 18, 1841, and on the 16th day of August 1863 she became the wife of Peter H. Dau, who died about twenty years ago. They came to America in 1873, first locating in Fremont, where they resided for seven years. In September 1880 they moved to the farm six miles southwest of Hooper, where they resided until the year after the death of Mr. Dau, when the widow moved to town and occupied the home in which her death occurred. To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Dau were born thirteen children, five of whom are now living. They are: John R. and Earnest, Scribner; George of Manston, Minn; W.G. J. and Edward of Hooper. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Claus Wagner, of Scribner. the last illness of this worth and highly respected pioneer woman began on the 16th day of April this year, when she suffered a paralytic stroke from which whe never rallied, lingering howver until 4:25 Saturday afternoon, June 17, 1916. She was 75 years, 3 months and 29 days old at the time of her death. The funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. J. Schrader having charge of the same. She was followed to her last earthly resting place by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The floral offerings were profuse and exceedingly beautiful. Emil Boell, Edward Edelman, John Thedens, Chas. Elling, Carl Kroeger and W.W. Whitney acted as pall bearers. The interment was made in the Hooper Cemetery. the deceased was a member of the Ridgley German church, a God-fearing Christian woman, who was fully resigned to her fate on this earth with a bright, blessed hope of a brighter world beyond. During her last illness she received the constant, tender, sympathetic and conscientious care that earthly hands could possibly give. The heartfelt sympathy of the community is with the bereaved children all of whom were present at the last sad rites with the exception of the son, George.
