Mr. Smith had been in poor health for about a year, but had not been confined to bed. He was 63 years of age at the time of his death, and was a native of Cincinnati, OH. Read More	******************************* Pilot, June 13, 1928 FARMER NEAR ARLINGTON FOUND DEAD** Ed Smith, a farmer living one mile north of Arlington, was found dead in his bed early last Friday morning. Mr. Smith had been in poor health for about a year, but had not been confined to bed. He was 63 years of age at the time of his death, and was a native of Cincinnati, OH. He came to Nebraska with his parents as a boy, and had spent practically all his life in that vicinity. Mr. Smith was married to Miss Jetta Echtenkamp Feb. 23, 1893, and is survived by his wife and five children. The children are Fred, Will, Louisa and Mrs. Albert Giesselman, all of Arlington, and Harry of Arapahoe. Three brothers, Henry, George and Will, all of Arlington, and two sisters, Emma Echtenkamp of Wayne and Louise Smith of Oregon, also survive. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at one o’clock in the home and later at the Brown Creek Lutheran church, Rev. G.W. Wolther in charge of Christian services. # 2 - - Pilot, June 20, 1928 The funeral of Ed Smith whose sudden death we mentioned last week was held at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Monday afternoon June 11th at 2 o’clock and was largely attended. Relatives from away who were present were, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ehninger of Hooper; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Marte of Columbus; Henry Echtenkamp, wife and daughter of Wakefield; Mrs. Alvina Echtenkamp, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Echtenkamp, son and daughter of Wayne; Casper Claymeier of Quincy, Ill.; Mrs. Reape, Mrs. Prichard, Frank Reape and son and Mrs. Fred Reape of Arapahoe; and Carl Brockman and son, of Scotts Bluff. Mr. Brockman was an old time friend of Mr. Smith and drove all that distance to pay his respects to the departed.
