Paxton St., Sioux City, and former Akron resident, was dead on arrival at a Sioux City hospital Saturday (Aug. 23, 1986) after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Morningside Lutheran church, Sioux City. The Rev: M.L. Jacobson officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron, with military graveside rites conducted by Monahan Post 64, American Legion. Services were under direction of the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 21, 1917 to Edward and Inga Rodvold Johnson on a farm near Spink, S.D. He graduated in 1935 from the Akron high school. Following his service in the U.S. army during World War II, he lived for a short time in Milford, Iowa. He married Arlene H. Milbrodt, Sept. 14, 1947 at Akron. They operated Johnson's Sundries in Akron for several years. They lived in Alta, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City 22 years ago. He was ah insurance salesman for Banker's Life & Casualty and United America Insurance Cpmpanies. Mr. Johnson was a member of Morningside Lutheran church in Sioux City. He was an army veteran of World War II and was former commander of Hoschler American Legion post 186 in Akron, former county commander of Buena Vista county, member and post adjutant of Monahan post 64, American Legion and a 44-year member of the Eagles Lodge Aerial 77 of Sioux City. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Eldean (Diane) Gehrts and Mrs. Lance (Beverly) Bos, both of Sioux City; a sister, Hilma Johnson of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Stacey, Christine and Tony Gehrts and Jason and Tyler Bos, all of Sioux City.
