Read More	EDWARD P WYATT DIED LAST SATURDAY Prominent Business Man Had Been Ill For Only A Few Weeks IN HOSPITAL LESS THAN WEEK WHEN DEATH CAME Edward Parker Wyatt, widely known fire insurance agent, churchman and civic leader, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital here Saturday evening of last week, after a short illness, of a complication of diseases. He was taken ill on Friday night, June 23rd, and as his condition grew worse, was removed to the McCready Memorial Hospital Sunday evening, July 9th, where, failing to respond to treatment, he passed away in less than a week, with his wife and her sisters at his bedside when death came. Had he lived, he and his wife would have observed their golden wedding anniversary in October of this year. Mr. Wyatt was born at Whaleyville, Worcester county, Md., March 4th, 1865, and was 79 years of age. He was a son of the late Caleb and Narcissa Ellen Wyatt. He came to Crisfield with his parents at the age of 15 years and attended Crisfield High where he graduated with honors, and made a fine record in penmanship, bookkeeping and accounting. His first position after his graduation was as clerk in the store of his uncle, the late Senator L. E. P. Dennis. After several months there he accepted the position of clerk in the law and insurance office of Col. Clarence P. Hodson. When he was with Col. Hodson for about a year, the office was moved to the present location on lower Main street, and a Building & Loan Association organized, which was in existence for a number of years. In 1895 he was appointed Deputy United States Commissioner here and held this position for about 10 years. In 1912 he was elected to the City Council and served in this capacity for two or more terms. Then in 1921 he was elected Mayor of Crisfield, succeeding Mayor Elmer R. Gandy. Mr. Wyatt acted as financial secretary, and later treasurer of Immanuel Methodist Church, for about 20 years, and had been secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of the Edward W. McCready Memorial Hospital for a number of years and up to the time of his death. He was a manlier of Chesapeake Lodge No. 147, A. F & A. M. of the Knight of Pythias, and of the Woodmen. A man of wide acquaintance, he was held in high regard and esteem, not only in is own community, but in many parts of the Eastern Shore and the State, and word of his passing was received with sincere grief by his many friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were held at his home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Dr. Melvin E. Wheatley, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church, assisted by Dr. John J. Bunting, of Elkton, Rev. John L. Johnson, of Symrna, Del., both former pastors of Immanuel, and Rev. J. K. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment was in the family plot in the Crisfield cemetery. A splendid tribute was paid to him with flowers from relatives and friends, which for beauty and variety, has seldom been equaled in this community. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Wyatt, a sister, Mrs. Hester Sterling, and four brothers, William H. Wyatt, of Wilmington, Del., Fred L.
