Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Stanley Rosenau at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Midway on February 25. Gail and Gary Gebers, Wayne Albers, Raymond Bergman, Tim Hupke and Mark Gries were pallbearers. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Midway under direction of Walter Funeral Service. Edward Thomas Strackbein, the son of Arnold and Mary Jensen Strackbein, was born November 27, 1920 at Midway. He married Bonnie Hunwardsen September 28, 1947, in Cushing. They farmed in the Midway area from 1947 to 1956. He worked on road construction from 1956 until 1960 and from 1960 to 1966 he operated a hog buying station in Cushing. In 1966 they returned to the Midway area and farmed until 1981 when they moved to Correctionville. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife Bonnie, a son Marc of Phoenix, Arizona, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lynette) Groszkrueger of Correctionville, a brother, Arthur of Battle Creek, two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Albers of Cushing and Mrs. Willard (Ethel) Gebers of Holstein and three grandchildren, Heidi, Kami and Bradley Groszkrueger. He was preceded in death by his parents.
