Mary's last name is somewhat in question, but thought to be Hincher. Edward was the oldest in a family of nine children. Edward's family line goes back to Robert Tucker who came to America about 1633. Edward married Azubah Town, the daughter of Ebenezer and Huldah (Wheelock) Town, in Charlton September 13, 1789, and shortly after that moved to the Calais area of Vermont. Edward and Azubah had thirteen children and of these, nine lived to adulthood. Their oldest son, Joel, was killed in the War of 1812. At a Proprietors meeting held June 8, 1791, Edward Tucker was one of those recorded present. At the first town meeting in Calais, March 2, 1795, Edward Tucker was among those chosen as Selectmen, also, as Surveyor of highways. On the Grand List of 1801, Edward Tucker was listed as having 25 acres, buildings $340.00, and other assets $153.25. Throughout the town records of Calais, Edward's name is mentioned numerous times. He was among those Volunteers to Plattsburg in September 1814. Edward Tucker died April 17, 1834 and is buried in Short Cemetery, Calais, Washington County, Vermont.
