Edward William Dunn, one of the early settlers and an old and respected citizen of this section, died at the family residence in this city at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, June 11th. Edward William Dunn, one of the early settlers and an old and respected citizen of this section, died at the family residence in this city at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, June 11th. He had been in failing health for several months, death being primarily caused by infirmities of old age. Mr. Dunn was a son of William Dunn, a pioneer settler of Jones county. He was born in New York city, January 3, 1838.When he was six years old his parents removed overland to California and they remained there two years, and returning east, located in Washington township, Jones county, Iowa, where the deceased lived continuously until five years ago, when he came to Cascade to reside. Mr. Dunn was married 53 years ago to Anna Murray, who with the following children, survive him: John Dunn, of Helena, Montana; Edward, Mrs. Ellen Moore, Mrs. N. J. Loes and Frank P., of Cascade; Bernard J., a soldier with the A. E. F., in France. The deceased children were; William, Mary McMullen, Leo and Joseph. The deceased was a man of exemplary rectitude, a consistent Christian and a neighbor who was revered and respected by all who knew him. The funeral was held at St. Martin's church at 9 o’clock this morning, Rev. L. Roche officiating, and the remains were taken to Garryowen for burial this afternoon.
