Edwin August Stahlberg was born September 28, 1906 in Kenmare, ND to Ole and Augusta (Stark) Stahlberg. Stahlberg Sr., 87, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Kenmare, ND died Sunday September 25, 1997 in a St. Paul, Minnesota nursing home. Edwin August Stahlberg was born September 28, 1906 in Kenmare, ND to Ole and Augusta (Stark) Stahlberg. He graduated from Kenmare High School in 1923 and then attended the Minot Normal School (College). He married Evelyne Bird on August 31, 1927 in Kenmare. They lived west of Kenaston on his parent's farm and he taught in rural schools in the area until 1928 when they moved to Kenmare. He then worked as a substitute postal clerk in the Kenmare Post Office and later in post offices at Rapid City, SD, and Duluth, MN. He was appointed postal inspector of the St. Paul Division in 1941 and served in that position until 1969 when he retired after 41 years of government service. He entered the Commonwealth Nursing Home in St. Paul in 1989. He as a former member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare and had been active in its Sunday School program at one time. Survivors: wife; son, Edwin D. Jr., Fergus Falls, MN; daughter, Joan Gates, Shoreview, Minnesota; four grandchildren, brother Melvin of Kenmare and sister Hannah Brekhus of Kenmare. Funeral: Monday, at 2 p.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare. Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to noon in the Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND
