Survivors are: wife of 62 years, Betty; sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Vera Nunnally of Mount Vernon, Wash., Bob and Teri Nunnally of Joplin, Mo., and John and Kay Nunnally of Saginaw, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Steve Champ of Loveland, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Barbara Nunnally of Lincoln; grandchildren, Mark Nunnally, Sarah Champ, Stephanie Champ, Dan Nunnally, Matt Nunnally, Charles Nunnally, Elizabeth Hoogendoorn and Alexander Thayer and great-granddaughter, Mary Jane Thayer. Edwin was welcomed into heaven by his parents; grandparents; sister-in-law and her husband, Lilly and Jack Sander and brother-in-law, Bill Zohner. Edwin was raised in Monroe where he graduated from high school. He entered the Army Air Corp in January, 1943 and served 31 months in the South Pacific in the Army Air Corps with the 871st Battalion Engineers. When he left home, he never returned until the end of the war. He received the Bronze Star Medal with the Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal; Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with two battle stars; Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star; World War II Victory Medal and the Marksman-Ship Medal. Edwin was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Morris on May 23, 1948, at Warnerville Methodist Church near Norfolk. Edwin Worked for Nebraska Public Power District for 42 years. He began work in 1946, transferred to the Kramer Power Station in Bellevue, where he worked for 29 years. In 1977, he was transferred to The Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland as a shift supervisor. He retired in 1988 and moved to Grand Island in 1991. Memberships include First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island, serving as an Elder in the Bellevue and Sutherland churches. Member of the Mariners in Bellevue and the Friendship Club in Grand Island; Life Member of VFW; American Legion in Sutherland and the Lions Club in Grand Island and was a volunteer at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home with over 1500 hours and served on the Senior Citizens Board and Sandy Acres Housing Board both of Sutherland. His hobbies were traveling, stamp collecting, coin collecting, volunteering and had a great love for his family. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 12/1/2010
