Description	:	HUGHES, EDWIN—Edwin Hughes, eldest son of Wilbur and Clara (Renner) Hughes, was born on a farm at Tampico, Ill., December 7, 1878. He passed away suddenly at Strang, Neb., Sunday, October 22, 1961, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 15 days. At the age of two he moved with his parents to a farm at Bruning, Neb. He was united in marriage to Miss Julia Hoffman on April 2, 1903, at Hebron, Neb. Read More	HUGHES, EDWIN—Edwin Hughes, eldest son of Wilbur and Clara (Renner) Hughes, was born on a farm at Tampico, Ill., December 7, 1878. He passed away suddenly at Strang, Neb., Sunday, October 22, 1961, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 15 days. At the age of two he moved with his parents to a farm at Bruning, Neb. He was united in marriage to Miss Julia Hoffman on April 2, 1903, at Hebron, Neb. To this union three children were born, one daughter (Gertrude) Mrs. Bert Anderson of Edger, and two sons, Ralph of Geneva and Raymond of Whittier, Cal., all of whom were present for the funeral. He lived on farms near Davenport and Bruning until 1922, when he moved to a farm near Strang where he has since resided. He made farming his life's vocation until retiring about 15 years ago. November 8, 1937, he was united in marriage to Tracy Casper Albrecht. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two sons, one daughter 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Glen and one grandson, Jack Hughes. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Thursday, October 26, at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home with Rev. Robert J. Kasper officiating. Ralph Reemts sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Norva Mossman was accompanist. Pallbearers were Verne DuBois, Wendell Christiancy, William Eich, Gay Fisher, Sterling Noel and Otto Roelfs. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 2 November 1961 page 9.
