He departed this life at his home in Geneva following a brief illness Sunday evening, April 19, 1970, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 25 days. Read More	HUGHES, RALPH—Ralph Hughes, son of Edwin and Julia Hughes, was born on a farm near Davenport, Neb., January 25, 1907. He departed this life at his home in Geneva following a brief illness Sunday evening, April 19, 1970, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 25 days. He spent his childhood on farms near Bruning and Davenport, moving with his parents to a farm north of Strang in 1922. January 5, 1926, he was united in marriage to Mildred M. Gewecke. To this union ten children were born, Darrel of Geneva; Kenneth of Denver; Ronald of Rock Island, Ill.; Robert of Hastings; Genevieve (Mrs. Jim Tanner) of Saugus, Cal.; Shirley (Mrs. Gary Fowler) of Independence, Mo.; Deloris (Mrs. Fritz Murrell) of Hawardin, Ia.; Jerry of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Sharon (Mrs. Roger Cudaback) and Carol (Mrs. Melvin Motis) of Exeter. He lived on farms in the Carleton and Geneva areas until 1941, when he moved into Geneva where he had since resided. He was preceded by his mother and father. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mildred, five sons and their wives, five daughters and their husbands, and 25 grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Gertrude (Mrs. Bert Anderson) of Edgar; one brother, Raymond of Lake Isabella, Cal.; one aunt, Stella Avers of Davenport, and an uncle, Earl Hughes of Dayton, Wash. Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. Rev. Delano Spitzer officiated. Music was furnished by a quartet, Wayne Kempf, Clinton Lauber, Henry Lauber and Lowell Steider. They sang “Ivory Palaces” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Pallbearers were Fred Baloun, Frank Brower, Guy McCurdy, Joseph Moravec, Melvin Whiteley and Marion Yates. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
