She had been in very poor health since the first of July and had been bedfast the past five weeks. A Sioux City specialist was called Friday morning and she was taken to a Sioux City hospital in an ambulance. Saturday morning she underwent an operation and stood it very well. Until 6 o'clock in the evening she talked with the relatives, and her condition seemed favorable. A blood clot which struck the heart caused her death. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Morning Star church and burial made in Grand Meadow Cemetery. Effie Jane Carver was born near Washta, Iowa, September 15, 1887, and passed away October 18, 1925, aged 38 years. She was the youngest daughter of Joseph & Alice Whiting Carver, both of whom preceded her, and spent most of her life in this community. She joined the United Brethren church at age fifteen. Later she joined the Evangelical church in which she served faithfully, serving as teacher in the Sunday school and the last nine months had taught the "Boys Brotherhood" class. January 27, 1909, she married Orren L. Keck. To them was born one daughter, Rachel Irene. She leaves her husband, daughter, one brother, Warren S. Carver, and two sisters, Mrs. Ina Flisher and Mrs. Ida Nafe, both of this community.
