Description	:	Effie Ethel Denton, daughter of Allen and Ann Louks, was born in Indiana, July 1885 and departed this life at the Story County Hospital at 4:135 P.M. Sept. 11, 1959 at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 2 days. She lived the first 21 years of her life with and near her folks in Indiana and in 1908 was united in marriage to Lafe Denton, also of Indiana. Read More	Effie Ethel Denton, daughter of Allen and Ann Louks, was born in Indiana, July 1885 and departed this life at the Story County Hospital at 4:135 P.M. Sept. 11, 1959 at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 2 days. She lived the first 21 years of her life with and near her folks in Indiana and in 1908 was united in marriage to Lafe Denton, also of Indiana. The following fall they made the journey to Iowa by covered wagon and train and settle in Story County, near Cambridge. They farmed several farms in the neighborhood of Cambridge, Maxwell and Zearing and then, unable to keep up with the heavy duties of farming, moved their family to Maxwell. In 1937, they moved to the Allen Louks home in Cambridge and spent the remainder of their days at this home. She had attended the E.U.B. Church in years past. Her husband, Lafe, passed away on Dec 31, 1948. Also preceding her in death; two daughter and two sons. She leaves to morn her passing, three daughters, Mrs. Joel Severson of Slater, Mrs. Russell Mishler of Maxwell and Mrs. Donald Elliott of Moline, Ill. Three sons, Bert of Maxwell, Carl of Des Moines and Russell of Cambridge, two sisters; Mrs. Matt Jennett of Hoopeston, Ill. And Mrs. Harry Elliott of Ames. Three brothers Harry of Nevada, Chester of Ames and Ovid of Slater. Seventeen grandchildren, three great grand children, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. in the bible Presbyterian church in Cambridge with Rev. Le Roy Sargent of Guymon, Okla. officiating. Donald Myers, accompanied by Madeline Summitt, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone." The floral tributes were in charge of Marjorie Sesker and Hazel Maywald. Casket bearers were David and Carroll Louks, Blake Elliott, Edwin Green, Harlan Shaeffer and Robert Reese. Interment was in the Center Grove cemetery. Relative from a distance in attendance were Mrs. Ben Denton, Mrs. Don Bullington, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Denton, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Teide and Mrs. Letha Crawford, all of Indiana: Mr. and Mrs. William Baxter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Adams and Virgil Louks, all of Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Graham and two daughters of Webster City.
