Havens Rites Aug. 15 Funeral services for Mrs. Effie May [Byers] Havens were held at Wolfs Funeral Home in Villisca, Aug. 15, with burial at Grant, Ia. Included in the service was the following obituary. Effie May [Byers] Havens was born July 18, 1877 on a farm near Corydon, Iowa. At the age of 10 she moved to Montgomery county, Iowa, and spent the next 75 years in or near there. She was united in marriage to William Havens on Dec. 29, 1892. He preceded her in death in 1940. To this union four children were born, a daughter, Lela, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Hunter [Beulah Mae] of Bedford, a son, Paul, of Villisca and a son, Glen, who died in infancy. She also leaves two granddaughters, Mrs. Drexel Keith, Bedford, and Mrs. Doris Huber of Bend, Oregon; also three great grandchildren, Randall Keith, Kay Lynne Keith and Martin Randall Huber. She leaves a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Havens united with the Christian Church at the age of 15 in Morton's Mill. Later, in 1953 she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Villisca. Those attending the services from a distance were Mrs. Mary Havens, Donald Havens, Mrs. Ross Havens Mrs. Ella Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Haynes of Atlantic; Mrs. John Coulthard Des Moines, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Van Hoozer, Mrs. Bessie Straight, Mrs. Callia Wimer of Bethany, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Ranck, Macedonia, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Zuber, Clarence Zuber, Mrs. Lucile Shields, Afton.
