Effie and Charlie (red haired) were first cousins and their parents did not want them to get married. One time when going to some doings, Effie put on several layers of clothes. Her father sent someone along to be sure Charles and Effie did not sit together. After the doings Charles borrowed a colt and they snuck off to Minnesota.
