She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin and Mamie Thompson Groth. She was baptized and confirmed at Goose River Lutheran Church and attended school in Newburgh Township. She married Ernest Brandon July 1, 1933 at the Groth farm home. They farmed and lived in Washington Township, Grand Forks County. Read More	Mrs. Ernest Brandon Dies in Fargo Hospital October 8 Mrs. Ernest (Effie) Brandon was born June 2, 1910 near Hatton in Newburgh Township. She died October 8 in a Fargo Hospital. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin and Mamie Thompson Groth. She was baptized and confirmed at Goose River Lutheran Church and attended school in Newburgh Township. She married Ernest Brandon July 1, 1933 at the Groth farm home. They farmed and lived in Washington Township, Grand Forks County. She was employed at the Northwood Hospital and Mayville Hospital for the past 14 years. Her husband Ernest Brandon died October 19, 1972. She lived on the farm until 1973 when she moved to Northwood to live with her mother. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, and its ALCW. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Martin Groth of Northwood, a brother Lewis Groth, Hatton and two sisters, Mrs. Orlin (Myrene) Vigen of East Grand Forks and Mrs. Erling (Eva) Johnson of Hatton. 7 nieces and nephews and 13 grand-nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, Martin Groth and a sister, Mrs. Melvin (Mamie) Erickson. Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, Friday October 11 at 2 p.m. Rev. Victor Saude officiated. Organist was Mrs. Fred Nelson. Soloist Adeline Grindeland sang How Great Thou Art and Nearer My Got to Thee. Interment was in St. John Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were all men in attendance at the funeral services. Casketbearers were Gail Groth, Jerry Groth, Gary Vigen, James Vigen, Kendall Amundson, Corwin Tufte, Jeffrey Brandon and Grant Brandon. Arnett Funeral Home, Hatton, had charge of arrangements.
