Description	:	Funeral Services held for Mrs. Erling Johnson Funeral services for Mrs. Erling (Eva) Johnson were held in Hatton, Friday, Jan. 14 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Reuben Jacobson officiating. Organist was Mrs. Fred Nelson. Soloist Mrs. George Berg Jr. sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Goodnight and Good Morning" for special music. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born May 24, 1913 west of Hatton to parents, Martin and Mamie (Thompson) Groth. She was baptized and confirmed at Goose River Lutheran Church west of Hatton and attended rural school in Newburgh Township. She married Erling Johnson Sept. 15, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton. They farmed near Hatton for 27 years and lived in Grand Forks from 1956 to 1971 when they moved to Hatton to live. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, St. John ALCW and Tri-County Home Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Erling and a brother Lewis Groth, rural Hatton and a sister, Mr. Orlin (Myrene) Vigen of East Grand Forks, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Effie) Brandon and Mrs. Melvin (Mamie) Erickson. Arrangements were by Arnett Funeral Home, Hatton.--Hatton Free Press, January 20, 1977.
