Mrs. Walter Beckfield was organist. The congregation sang a song and Dennis Larson sang two numbers, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "Abide With Me." Pall bearers were Vernon Sievers, Wilbert Sievers, Lloyd Sievers, Herb Sievers, Delwin Otteman and Erwin Rebhohn. Attending the funeral from out-of-town were Mr and Mrs. Ed Schuldt and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schuldt, both of Minneapolis, Minn. Ehler H. Otteman was born Feb. 17, 1804 in Bucken, in the province of Hanover, Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He came to this country at the age of seventeen and took up residence in Beloit, Wis. In 1890 he moved to the vicinity of Albert City and shortly afterward was united in marriage to Louise Schultz who preceded him in death six years ago. This union was blessed with four children, William, who preceded him in death, Emma Sievers, Amanda Dittner and Edward Otteman, ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, a true friend, and faithful neighbor. He devoted the greater part of his life to farming in this community and his diligence and zeal was richly rewarded. Tho he had considerable of this world's goods, his real treasures were laid up in heaven and he was a wise and faithful steward. His loyalty and faithfulness in his Lord and church was never in question. He loved his church and was regular and diligent in attending services in God's house. He shared the sentiments of the man of God who said, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord." On last Christmas eve he had an accidental fall in the living room of his home, and an examination revealed a broken pelvis. He was confined to his bed and spent many weary months vainly hoping to regain strength and his ability to walk. But the Lord over life and death had other plans for him. His strength slowly but noticeably wasted away, and he departed this earthly life last Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, a tired and weary pilgrim. His house was in order, and he departed this world in peace, confident that there is a rest prepared for the children of God. He rests in peace and may he linger in our memories.
